DESCRIPTION: American Waltham Watch Co.,Waltham, Mass., "Premier Maximus" with original boxes and papers, 16 size, 23 jewels, stem wind and set, adjusted to 5 positions, temperature and isochronism, damascened nickel plate movement with lever escapement, diamond endstones, cut bimetallic balance, gold jewel settings, gold timing screws and Ohlson micrometric regulator in an 18 karat, yellow gold, hinged back and bezel, open face Premier Maximus case with maker's details engraved on gold cuvette, and Arabic numeral, quadruple sunk white enamel dial, blued steel whip and spade hands, serial #17000127, 99.7g TW, together with its original gilt stamped, black leather, silk and velvet lined box, spare mainspring and crystal, outer cardboard box, Waltham contract notice, and promotional pamphlet, c1908.
CONDITION: CASE: Very fine scratches on outer surface of case; Very fine scratches on cuvette; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Small chips at wind indicator, glued in place; One tiny loss opposite repair. HANDS: Very good. MOVEMENT PLATES: Fine scratches on plate; Tiny spot on barrel bridge. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks). Leather box with minor wear at catch, otherwise very good. Outer box with minor rubs, scuffs. Papers good. A very nice example from the first Premier Maximus run of 200 watches.
